About this Library
So what is there to discover?
The Chesley Library started out as a Mechanic’s Institute in 1888 becoming a Free Public Library in 1899. The Free Library was attached to the Town Hall and occupied the space where the Bijou Theatre now stands. In 1967, as the official town Centennial Project, the Library was moved down the main street to a building donated by Wilfred Krug. In 2007, the Chesley Friends of the Library supported by many community groups, built a new library at the current location. The Chesley Branch opened in September 2007. Much of the trim and cupboards in the Library came from a large maple that was growing on the property.
