New Artist Featured on the Wall at the Walkerton Branch

July 7th, 2017

Heather Poechman is from Walkerton, at present she is a student at Queen’s University, working towards completing her master of Arts in Philosophy with a specialization in Political and legal Thought.

“I believe the best way to tell if a piece of art is any good, is when you feel strongly about it. That is why every one of my paintings begins with an emotion, rather than a thought. I paint what I wish to see more of in my world; tranquility, strength, passion, courage, playfulness, and joy. These emotions are captured in my theme of resilience. This focus on resilience can be found throughout my imagery of the feminine figure and emotional landscapes. I use bold brushstrokes and colour-blocking techniques, inspired by the graffiti murals I encountered in Rabat, to portray striking painted images and the strength of the human spirit.

Come see the gallery at the Walkerton branch library.
