Interlibrary Loan Services

Bruce County Public Library’s Interlibrary Loan Service has been provided through the provincial agency, the Southern Ontario Library Service (SOLS).  Due to a recent 50% funding reduction SOLS received in the Ontario provincial budget, SOLS can no longer provide Ontario libraries with its Interlibrary Loan service.  This service will officially end as of Friday, April 26th, 2019.

What you need to know as a Bruce County Public Library user:

  • Any Interlibrary Loans will need to be returned to the library immediately;
  • Pending requests will not be filled;
  • All other Bruce County Public Library services and programs will continue normally

an image of two library board members

Bruce County Public Library Board member – Patricia Symon – was awarded with this year’s James Bain Medallion at the Ontario Library Association Gala on Thursday, January 31st. This annual award is bestowed upon a library board member who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in governing a public library within the Province of Ontario.

Symon has served as a Bruce County Public Library Board member over the past two decades. She has also served as the regional representative of the SOLS (Southern Ontario Library Service) board from 2012-2016. She has played a vital role in the continued advancement of the Bruce County Public Library Service and spearheaded the library’s success in receiving Accreditation from the Ontario Public Library Guidelines Monitoring and Accreditation Council in 2017.

Along with her leadership capacities, Symon continues to be a passionate advocate for the importance of libraries within their local communities. “Patricia is known as one of the most determined and committed Library supporters,” states Grace Dawson, Interim Library Director. “She exemplifies the value that individuals offer in shaping the continued development of their local public libraries.”

Featuring the works of Tim Dolman.

Tim has been sculpting for many years, however five years ago he took up painting using pastels. “I love pastel as a medium, it is so immediate and the colours are so vibrant”

Tim finds inspiration in the beautiful country side in Grey and Bruce. He uses his camera as a sketch book to record images that have caught his eye.
