Event Type

For over 30 years, Scientists in School has delivered hands-on activities to foster a love for science in kids.  Bruce County Public Library is excited to host this program virtually in Microsoft Teams this summer.  Register your children below to take part in this fun and exciting program! Recommended for ages 4-12.

How it works:

  1. Register for the June/July programs. You may register for any or all programs listed.
    • Each child registered will receive a package from the library containing all the materials required for participation in the program.  Please submit this form for each child in your household that will be participating to ensure everyone receives their own supplies.
    • Indicate below your preferred Library Branch pick-up location.  Library staff will contact you when your kit is available.
    • Cut-off for registration for the June/July programs is June 22.  Space is limited to 15.  Registrations beyond 15 will be added to a wait list and offered first space in the August programs.
  2. Confirmation:
    • The Library will send you the meeting invitation for the program/s for which you registered.
  3. Pick up your supplies:
    • The Library will contact you after June 23 to pick up your supplies.
  4. Attend the program!
    • Log into the Teams meeting on the date and time and use your supplies to participate in the program!
  5. Fill in the evaluation:
    • Program evaluations can be found under the Events tab on the BCPL website.

Programs offered for June and July are:

  1. Colour My World (Use colour to watch water defy gravity, explore rainbows and create a sun catcher. Use chemistry to create new colours)
  2. Investigate It! (Test your powers of observation and deduction as you use forensic science to solve the mystery of the missing car. Fingerprints, footprints, handwriting analysis and more)
  3. Spread Your Wings (Come and explore the wonderful world of birds and other things that fly. Make a birdfeeder; fly a glider; and explore how a taketombo works)
