Interlibrary Loans Update

November 21st, 2017

We’re trying to keep things simple by:

  • Giving you 7 days to pick up your ILL hold before it’s sent back to the lending library (just like your Bruce County holds)
  • Having the same loan period for all ILL items – 2 weeks
  • Making ILL items non-renewable (most libraries don’t let us renew)
  • Having the same fines for ILL items as other Bruce County items
    • $1.00/day for DVDs and $0.25/day for all other items

Not finished with the book or DVD? We’re happy to request it for you again!

Comment: It is not really seven days from time of notice that the item is available for pick up to the time the item is sent back to the lending library. Considerations: number of days the closest library is open per week; in that week when the item is available, the number of days it is hazardous to drive, the indicators: – snow days – Bluewater Board of Education; fair to nil visibility, road closures – 511 – MTO; a forecast of local snow squalls – Enviromnment Canada. When the public library is in high demand in the winter months by those residents in Bruce County year round, I hope you will look at this. Pick up of items requires that the closest library be open and that it be safe to drive, when there is no other transportation available.
