Seed Library
Welcome to our Seed Libraries! Using public libraries as a place to borrow and trade seeds has existed for quite a while and is growing in popularity. Seed libraries create community around planting and growing and can help address environmental concerns, food sustainability, hunger and promote good health.
BCPL patrons are welcome to take seeds and return or donate seeds, with a suggested limit of 5 packages per household.
How does it work? Fill in the “Seed Library Checkout Sheet” to take seeds from the Library using the first three digits of your Library Card. If you choose, you may take an empty envelope to return harvested seeds.
Our seed libraries can be found in 10 locations:
- Chesley
- Kincardine
- Lucknow
- Southampton
- Teeswater
- Tobermory
- Walkerton
- Wiarton
- Ripley
- Bookmobile
Don’t miss our hydroponic unit located at the Teeswater branch. The hydroponic unit will grow herbs, which patrons may come in and snip, or grab a pre-cut bunch from staff.
Thank you to all our Seed Library donors:
