The Bruce County Public Library system is comprised of 18 branches and Headquarters.

The library offers its patrons and visitors more than just recreational reading or information. We own items in a variety of digital formats, lend out unusual types of items such as fishing tackle, geo-caching kits, or pedometers. We work with Bruce County municipalities (and the provincial government) in a variety of ways to help them deliver services to Bruce county residents.

The Bruce County Public Library offers electronic databases, e-books, books, periodicals DVDs, audio books of different kinds, music CD’s, public use computers, access to the internet, business information, in-depth reference and information retrieval. We also offer a variety of adult and children’s programmes.

Mission Statement

Enlightenment for all
Through knowledge
Freely given, freely shared
To empower citizens
To participate fully in society

As a County Library we offer centralized technical services (cataloguing and processing), Interlibrary loan, the expertise of professional librarians and centralized supply ordering and distribution. Because our branches share the same collection we can purchase fewer copies (efficiently sharing those we buy) and pass on the savings in the form of a greater variety of titles, restrained budget requirements and improved service in other areas.

Holds placed on items on our online catalogue are moved to the desired pick-up location by our courier services that visits each branch location at least twice per week. Interlibrary loan is available at every branch and offers access to items owned by other Ontario public libraries.
